Small spaces. Smart Hallway design on a budget.

Living in England I noticed one thing, the houses are not designed big... I am not talking about the flats, which you somehow expect to be smallish, but even if you have a house, and it does sound like big word - HOUSE- that doesn't mean you have a lot of space. And you are super lucky, if your front door don't just lead you straight away to the Kitchen or Living room! So today lets discuss your #hallway arrangements, in other words - where the heck you'll going to put all the crap!
How to maximise your space? You need to work with what you got! In our hallway, there is not enough space to put any shoe rack or anything like that. So I found an easy, no drill solution. Hopefully it will help you to look at your own space a bit differently and discover all the possibilities!
Solution 1. Use your stairwell to hang the coats and jackets.

If you want to get the similar result as the image above you will need:
Rope
Individual Coat hooks (Number Depends on how many you want)
Scissors

Basically, you will need to wrap the hooks around the stair banisters as tight as you can, the way to do it will depend on the hook's shape. Only tip I would suggest is that you choose a hook similar width as the banister itself, that will make it easier to wrap the rope around.
I have started working from the top of the stairs to the bottom, which was easier for me. You can also wrap the hooks individually and cut the rope in between, or as me, just carry on till the last one is done and then cut the rope. Test it for strength, during the two years I had this solution, I had to tighten it only once, because I did not do it tight enough to begin with.
To summarise, if your hallway has a stairwell and it is the only (or the most eye pleasing) place to use comfortably, try my solution. No drill, and if you get bored or think of something else, just remove it. Perfect for those who rent too.
Solution 2. Think outside the box when choosing an item to be your shoe rack.
As we know shoe racks are quite standard, elongated shape things, which, if you don't have wall space for it, won't fit anywhere in your hallway.
In my example I used, wait for it, - IKEA wine Rack! It fits the shoes we are wearing at the time and reduces the total clutter at the entry of our home, which I am very happy about. Also it is much cheaper then the actual thing labeled as Shoe rack..
The same way you could use: vegetable boxes or crates, closed style boxes (as in, with the lid), make your own custom shoe rack if you are super into DIY from some leftover wood for example.
That would be all for today, try to look at your hallway with the fresh eyes and use your space creatively.
Let me know what you think ,and what small space solutions you found, in the comments below!

Agne xx
