So we moved into our first home with a newborn in our hands and a lot of things in the boxes. Apart from few pictures and some art bought in a fair, our walls did not overflow with cool Art and modern paintings as much as I wish it would be (one day..) :))
Instead of buying more stuff, I wanted to do something personal for our home. In the same time I didn't want to overcomplicate things in our already busy household and to be honest with you there were some serious budget limitations. This is my idea of using things from what you already have and making it work! (Yes, I do watch some Project Runway, thank you very much) If you are reading this article, I hope it will help you to look at your own things in different way. Who knows what you will discover in that Attic ;)

Idea Number 1. Use the shopping bag to make Art!
You said what? Shopping bag? Thats right, how many times you came back from the shopping, (christmas time, chocolate shop, got gifts) and your heart did not let you throw away that nice decorative shopping bag, though you probably have't taking it out from the cupboard since. Well now it is the time! Click on this link for the article on how to proceed. This is my result below:

Idea Number 2. Go to your mum's place and dig up your own childhood art!
The idea is super simple, you must have something left over from your own school projects, even if it is not a Picasso, it would look lovely framed and hanging in the nursery, your office for inspiration or the bedroom to lighten it up :) Get the frames from places like Ikea or Charity shop or Poundland to minimise the cost.

Idea Number 3. Frame the gift wrap paper!
Nowadays gift wrap paper is really fun and have great choices for prints and design. It is a cheaper way to buy, compared with the art prints framed and displayed in the interior design shops. You might already have some at home, if not check shops like Paperchase on sale days, you will get a bargain! Mine costed 50p each, frames from good old Ikea. So total Project cost- £7.50. I think that is a great way to decorate without breaking the bank. It will look great in any room, depending on the print you like and choose for your self.

Open up your imagination to new opportunities and you will see that the things you can use to decorate your home you had all along. Now it is espiacially on trend to reuse, upcycle, repurpose and so on, but more importantly you have the ability and opportunity to create something for yourself and your family and everytime you'll walk past it it will make you smile, if not outside, then inside for sure! (also added bonus - when your friends come over, you can proudly say- I made this! :D) So enjoy the process and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Happy Decorating!
Love,
Agne xx
